The Challenge
Help the Nasher Sculpture Center promote its XChange exhibit. Unlike most exhibits, the various installations and pieces were spread across the Dallas area.
Our Solution
An elegant and simple iPhone app that contained content about each exhibit site, directions and the ability to capture photos and share with friends.

Location-based Art
How we brought a multi-location art exhibit to the palm of your hand
Creating a citywide art exhibit is an incredibly complex process. Not only were installations spread across Dallas’ neighborhoods, each site had its own events, promotions and unique story. We wanted to create a mobile experience that allowed the Dallas community to find each site, get directions and find out information about the artists. Once they were at each site, we encouraged them to take photos and share them with their friends on social media. We created a custom social photo moderation service to ensure that all content published within the app was up to the high standards of the Nasher Sculpture Center.
In addition to those visitors of the exhibits within Dallas, we focused the app’s content around anyone interested in the exhibits regardless of location. The app needed to stand on its own, or be used as a companion to the exhibits. With a custom content management system for app publishing, we enabled the Nasher Sculpture Center to produce and publish compelling content and rich visual imagery many times throughout the exhibition. What resulted was an app that not only helped people find exhibits and share photos, but was used worldwide to showcase the great work of the Nasher Sculpture Center and the city of Dallas.
